Notice Regarding Patient Protections Against Surprise Billing

Section 2799B-3 of the Public Health Service Act requires health care facilities to make publicly available, post on a public website of the facility, and provide a one-page notice that includes the following information in clear and understandable language:

(1) the federal restrictions on facilities regarding balance billing in certain circumstances,
(2) any applicable state law protections against balance billing, and
(3) information on contacting appropriate state and federal agencies if an individual believes a facility has violated the restrictions against balance billing.

Right to Receive Good Faith Estimate of Expected Charges

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.  Such notice can be accessed at the following link: Good Faith Estimate Notice
